About the club

  • Director on stallCranleigh Film Club is a community based club with a membership limited to 120
  • We aim to provide a balanced programme of distinctive films from around the world. Films are chosen by members directly or indirectly through a sub-committee. Our programme complements but is separate from the mainstream programme of films shown at the Cranleigh Arts Centre
  • The club has a warm sociable atmosphere with an opportunity for refreshment before the film
  • The club is a member of the British Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) and as such has full insurance cover
  • Our season runs from September to June
  • Our films are shown in the Bandroom in Cranleigh
  • Our first film is screened on Thursday 7 September to which prospective new members are invited, ‘Open Evening’
  • 10 films are screened on the last Thursday evening of each month, except in September and March when we show two films
  • A detailed preview and critique of each film is provided to members before screenings. Members are able to rate the films afterwards and the results are published
  • Attendance at our screenings is usually about 60 members and guests
  • The club supports a DVD library to enable members to borrow films that they have missed or wish to see again
  • The club sponsors community events relating to the medium of film.
