France/Iran 2013. Director Asghar Farhadi.
A work by Asghar Farhadi, the director of A Separation and About Elly. This film once again explores marriage ending, but it is a remarkable study of modern family life, an emotional detective story in which past events gradually emerge to undo our preconceptions.
The location is now Paris but the main characters are the expat Iranians. Berenice Bejo, the delightful star of The Artist, acts the wife against type but the real star of this work is the script, a masterpiece of drip feed.
125 minutes.
