France 1987. Director Louis Malle.
Malle was close to the end of his career when he made this semi-autobiographical account of bigotry at a convent school during World War II. A boy is being hidden and the Gestapo come searching.
Malle never sentimentalises which gives this an integrity rarely found in films dealing with this subject.
100 minutes.
