The film of Mordicai Richler’s award winning 1997 novel of the Montreal life of the eponymous hero. The sometimes hilarious, sometimes tragic story covers three decades of Barney’s business careers and three wives.
The star is Paul Giammatti, ably supported by screen wives Rachelle Lefevre, Minnie Driver and Rosamund Pike, the last being especially applauded by critics as the wife far too good for him.
This film is refreshing, idiosyncratic, witty and literate.
