Intouchables, September 2013

Intouchables, showing Thursday 5th September 2013 at the Cranleigh Film ClubFrance 2012 Director Olivier Nakache, Eric Toledano

Certificate 15

This film will not change the world but is designed to charm it. By its avoidance of pity and larky treatment of disability it becomes a refreshing and original view of a subject which has attracted a number of recent film makers. This film is more of a comedy than The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and lacks the romance and violence of Rust and Bone (see the June 2014 show) .

Francois Cluzet the star of Tell No One and Little White Lies plays a quadriplegic who hires a huge, black helper just out of jail. The pair develop a friendship which defies social conventions.

This is a heart warming, life affirming story for both low and high brow film fans.
